We all think that love is all about the deep things in life - and that the strong bonds of love might be about the sacrifices that people make for each other. Well, love can be a little simpler than that.
A recent research conducted with 52 couples found that laughing strenghtens the relationship. When people laugh at the same thing, they validate each other's opinions. Private jokes and pet names, things that others just don't get, stengthen ties betweek couples.
One of main reasons why people who laugh together find that they grow to have each other is because laughter is a pleasurable experience. The more positive memories you have, the more you love the other person.
If you have ever ate something and got sick and then decided from that time on not to eat the food again? Same thing applies to relationships that have a lot of negative images. Negative images add up to pull the relationship apart.
The second component of love is those secret little pet names and private jokes that no one else know about. These little secrets help the couples feel that they are in a tight bond. It seems that they are likely in their own little world with their own language that no one else understands.
So, may I suggest that go ahead, create endearing yet funny and unusual pet names. Even "klunkhead" may evoke such giggling-inducing and warm associations with the moniker that only the two of you will hold dear.
Just learned I got this part-time job..yipee! And so, this means more hours of being awake and being tired. But, have to do it as my landlord said that rent would be increasing effective next month so I had to prepare.
It has been my "tradition" to go home to my parents and spend the weekend there whenever I am to begin on a new job. But this time's different. If I go home, my expenses will double compare to the scenario of staying in my small flat. Whenever I'm home, I felt obliged to do the groceries, cook for them and give them a few cash before I go. I am happy doing that, but then, I have my own responsibilities also. I love my folks and even though we almost always disagree, I'd serve them and give them extra cash even if after I arrive back here at the apartment with only noodles to eat.
Now, I am confused if I'll go home. When I'm there, I feel relaxed and rejuvenated and even if I sleep at midnight I still wake up headache-less because of the air. But then, my credit card's maxed out and have to work overtime again so that I can make up. Can someone advise me on what to do?
Just came across this new book by Sarah O' Leary Birmingham called, How to Raise your Parents. First reaction, why only let this out NOW?
I had my own issues with my mom and dad when I was in my teen years. It's like opposites attracting each other to argue. They wanted me to go to an all-girls school but I went to co-ed. Wanted me to become a doctor but I hate the smells of hospitals. Aspired me to become a biology professor but I had hard time dissecting a frog. They wanted me to date their bestfriend's son who was a pastor but I wanted to become a law enforcer and a car racer at the same time. I have nothing against ministers or pastors but I look at them reverently and can't imagine being interested to the person who I see every Sunday at church and making sermons that almost always describes how I live.
So, this book talks about the good and bad things about being a teenager. Now,we all know that already. The book also asked if parents should have instructional manuals before having kids. Like a series that will go through even when their children reaches college. I say this book isn't up for a New York Times Bestseller spot, but then, worthy to be considered by those who have and will and plan to be parents.
